How to Dial Internationally from Canada
Similar to the US, Canada uses 011. However, because Canada is part of the North American Numbering Plan, calling the USA or most Caribbean islands only requires a "1" followed by the area code, not the 011 exit code.
This code signals your local provider that the call is bound for an international destination. Without it, your call will be routed as a domestic long-distance number.
